When we conceptualized the theme of this issue was a bit hard for us to put into words what we wanted to achieve, after all, self-expression can basically be anything. We wanted to focus on things that helped us express our identities and culture. This issue has beautiful stories on how we, as femmes, connect with beauty, style, media, and movement in ways that enrich our souls and help us show the world our stories, our identities, and the beauty of our existence.

We would like to give a very special thank you to our amazing interviewees, they made time in their busy schedules to answer our questions and help us create a very unique and compelling issue. We were so lucky to have Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark professor emerita at UTSA talk to us about how style has helped her express her identity and given her a feeling of power. We also talked to the one-and-only Tanya Saracho, creator of the amazing show “Vida”, who helps us explore the importance of creating creative spaces for Latinx stories to help express who we truly are, and how she’s making that happen in Hollywood. We are forever grateful to have these Mujerones share their knowledge with us and with you, our beloved readers.

Enjoy!
